Unfolding the Magic
Yellow Tree Reading Academy is an online training school dedicated to equipping educators, therapists, and homeschooling parents with research-based strategies, interactive resources, and structured methodologies to effectively teach and support children with reading difficulties.
Our Story
The name of our school, Yellow Tree Learning, was derived from the magically tinted yellow leaves the majestic pecan nut trees transform into during the autumn months in our garden. When these leaves eventually drop off, they form a yellow carpet below turning everything into bright yellow. It was such a show of vibrance and happy tints, we decided to harness the elements and incorporate this into our brand.
Yellow Tree Learning Centre was established in 2022, as a Professional Teacher Training Centre, where the focus is on understanding and meeting the needs of students who experience language delays. It also unpacks the different language barriers (reading difficulties) and unpack the complexity of the reading process.
We explore the different methodologies to implement the correct way to teach students based on the science of reading.
Our course is also differentiated to meet individual needs and reading functioning levels.
Our emphasis is on the development and enrichment of vocabulary and the implementation of the resource material provided during the training.

Meet Annemarie
My name is Annemarie Roux, previously Head of Learning Support and an Educational Psychologist at Metro North Education District in the Western Cape Education Department in Cape Town, South Africa.
After many years in Special Education, initially as a regular classroom teacher in both high and primary schools and later as a Learning Support Educator, an educational Psychologist and as a lecturer in Special Needs Education at university level, I was able to fulfil my dream of establishing my own teacher training centre, called Yellow Tree Learning. This Learning Centre offered workshops and courses designed to equip Remedial teachers how to effectively teach children with difficulties reading.
A Combined Passion
Dynamic mother-daughter-team, Annemarie and Tania heads up Yellow Tree Reading Academy and has a lot of fun daily in doing so.
Annemarie develops educational resources and games and writes books and courses on how to in following the correct principles, teach children struggling to read the right way.
Tania focuses on the business, the development and production of the courses, and spreading the magic in the Yellow Tree Community and marketing.

Workshops
The Yellow Tree Learning Centre hosted many in-person courses and workshops over the last few years. Annemarie developed various programmes to assist remedial teachers to teach and assess children with reading delays.
